 Suzanne Gyr, born June 8, 1899 in Lorraine, France, started taking piano lessons with one of Cortot's pupil. In 1930 she entered Cortot's class at the Ecole Normale in Paris and studied the piano with him for five years. At the same time she took courses in history of music and harmony with Nadia Boulanger. Finally her efforts were crowned with success and she obtained the "Licence de Concert" and a diploma entitling to teach music. She gave same recitals in France, but the ware broke out and put an end. She settlet in Geneva, Switzerland, and married Edouard Gyr, a Swiss violinist and a member of the Orchestre Romand. She gave recitals in Switzerland, where her brilliant  success was acclaimed by all. She recorded for HMV as soloist, also together with the baryton Marko Rothmüller, all issued only on the HMV Swiss Serie. She died March 3, 1974.
